I recently figured out that I have neglected my e-mail signature when in fact it could be an important part of growing my business!
Like most people, my e-mail signature was pretty boring. Name, company name, address, phone number, fax number, and license number.
I've noticed that a lot of people do a lot of different things with their signature. Some have social media buttons. Others have a favorite saying. Some have so much stuff that it looks like signature vomit!
Well, today I decided that I am going to put some thought into my e-mail signature. The first thing I thought was at square one - how do I change it?

Now I could create a new signature, but what should I create? I started thinking again.
I brilliantly thought "who do I send e-mails to?"
I scrolled down through my e-mails and realized that there are several groups of people that I could place into categories.
After I figured out these categories, I had to decide how to personalize the signature. My goal was to personalize it based on my goal for that group of people. For example, I came up with a category of "Just Closed Client". A client that has just closed escrow has gone through a stressful process. What better way to relieve stress than by laughing.
I have a Funny Stuff board on Pinterest. So underneath the boring part of my signature I wrote "Your escrow has closed, it's time to laugh!" and hyperlinked it to my Funny Stuff board.
My goal with the "just closed client" is to relieve stress and give them something we can share that is not concerning real estate and loans - that's probably the last thing they want to think about!
I imagine there are several categories of people that I as a lender would share with a real estate agent. New buyer, title company rep, insurance agent, and financial advisor would be some of these categories.
Some others for a real estate agent might be property inspector, termite company, home warranty company, relatives of clients (relatives get more involved in the house decisions than they do in the loan decisions), divorce attorneys, Bank REO representatives, etc.
What other categories of people do you commonly send e-mails to? What is a desirable goal to accomplish with the e-mail? How would you personalize what you would send them? Do you believe in a minimalist signature (right now I do), or do you give your e-mail reader a lot of visuals with options to click?
